Ryanair is an Irish ultra-low-cost carrier that was established in 1984. Headquartered in Swords, Dublin, Ireland, the airline operates primarily from Dublin and London Stansted airports. As a significant part of the Ryanair Holdings family of airlines, it is accompanied by sister airlines Ryanair UK, Buzz, Lauda Europe, and Malta Air.

With a fleet of over 500 planes, Ryanair Group has experienced remarkable growth due to the liberalization of the European aviation industry in 1997 and the success of its low-cost business model. The airline’s extensive route network spans more than 40 European countries, as well as destinations in North Africa (Morocco) and the Middle East (Israel and Jordan).

Flight Cancellations or Delays

In the event of a delayed flight, passengers are offered various options and assistance to ensure their comfort and convenience.

  • If the expected delay exceeds two hours for flights up to 1500km (or three hours for intra-EU flights over 1500km and other flights between 1500km and 3500km), the airline provides support at the airport, including meal and refreshment vouchers.
  • If the revised departure time indicates a delay of at least one day, passengers are offered hotel accommodation and transportation.

Passengers are advised to contact the airline before making alternative travel arrangements, as the airline strives to accommodate them. If the circumstances make it impractical to provide the care above, the airline reimburses passengers for reasonable documented expenses.

Furthermore, passengers have the following options:

  • Opt to take the original flight at its rescheduled departure time.
  • Request rerouting to the final destination at the earliest or most convenient opportunity, subject to seat availability.
  • Change the flight to different dates or times on the same route without any additional charges.
  • In the event of a delay of five hours or more, passengers who choose not to travel may apply for a refund and, if applicable, request a return flight to the initial departure point.

In case of flight cancellations, the available options depend on the notice period provided to passengers. If passengers receive a cancellation notification at least 14 days before the scheduled departure time, they have the following options:

  • Apply for a refund.
  • Request rerouting to the final destination under comparable travel conditions.
  • Change the cancelled flight to alternative dates or times on the same route without incurring any fees.

For passengers who are notified of a flight cancellation less than 14 days prior to the scheduled departure time, the following options apply:

  • Apply for a refund.
  • Request rerouting to the final destination under comparable travel conditions.
  • Change the cancelled flight to alternative dates or times on the same route without incurring any fees.
